From now until October 26th look to the sky on clear nights. The Orionid meteor shower is at its peak.

The best show will be anywhere from 20 to 80-90 meteors per hour usually early in the morning around 5 a.m., but if we have clear skies at night, which is forecasted through the weekend, you will have a chance to see them.

The Orionids are named as such because they can be seen around the Orion constellation. The Orionid Meteor Shower is one of two meteor showers created by the passing of Halley's Comet. The other is Eta Aquarids in May. Halley's Comet can be seen from Earth every 75-76 years, but as it passes, it leaves behind a trail of debris. The Orionids and Eta Aquarids are that debris.

The best place to view the meteor shower is away from the lights in the city.  Heading to the plains or mountains will be your best bet.
