Greeley will start it's watering schedule next week so in case you have forgotten your watering days, or new to town, here is the schedule.

Keep in mind that a slow watering is always better. Just like when it rains really hard, most of the water just runs off and never has a chance to soak in. The same idea obviously applies with watering your lawn. So instead of watering for 45 minutes at a time, water three times for 15 minutes each. With a sprinkler system, it's easy to program.

Just run all your zones for 15 minutes and then set them to run again say five minutes after the first cycle to run again, and then the third cycle to run five minutes after that second cycle. If you are watering with a garden hose and sprinkler, it may be more of a hassle but in the end, you will not only save water, but your lawn will benefit from every drop.

  • If your address ends in an even number your watering days are Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday
  • If your address end in an odd number, your watering days are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
  • If you have a commercial or non-profit business or a multi-familly unit, the watering days are Sunday, Tuesday and Friday

Also keep in mind that if you are putting in a new lawn, it's critical to keep the new seed or sod moist everyday so there are permits you can get through the city but they do require that your soil base has a minimum of 4 cubic yards of compost for every 1000 square feet. It must also be workable to a depth of at least 6 inches.
