Fact: One lawnmower can produce as much pollution as one car. Maybe it's time to replace your old mower and Fort Collins will help pay for it if you live there.

I think, for the most part, we all try and do our part to help reduce air pollution but many never think it would be possible that one mower can put more crap in the air than 11 vehicles; I know I didn't. Then add the tillers, weed whackers, chainsaws etc. and it all adds up. It's classified as 'ground level ozone' and contributes to lung damage, cardio-pulmonary disease, and can even lead to premature death.

It does sound extreme and might be but it can't hurt to do something that can help not only you but your family and those around you and if can save you money, why not?  So the City of Fort Collins is offering a rebate program to help you help yourself and since they are in violation of the Federal air quality standard for ozone, you're helping your own city as well.

If you live in the city of Fort Collins, you are eligible for a $50 rebate and on top of that, many Fort Collins retailers are offering additional savings on top of the cities rebate.

Rebates are issued on a first-come, first-served basis only, while rebate funds last. For more information on what equipment is eligible, participating retailers or questions, contact the City of Fort Collins or visit their webpage by clicking on the link directly below.
