There is some good news about all those tree limbs that fell because of our heavy, wet snowstorm last fall, free mulch. The City of Fort Collins collected all of those down tree limbs and turned them into mulch. It will do our gardens good.

How can you get the mulch?

Starting April 21, Fort Collins residents can pick up free loads of mulch at the Crushing Operations Facility located at 1380 Hoffman Mill Road.

The material will be free for the taking as long as it lasts, said Larry Schneider, streets superintendent. And there’s a lot of it — an estimated 21,000 cubic yards of material were ground up.

“We are very excited to give this back to the community,” he said. “This is going to help out a lot of gardens.”
