Charley Barnes Clears The Air On The Sleigh Riders Motorcycle Toy Run Date

There seems to be confusion every year on when the Sleigh Riders Motorcycle Toy Run is held. We all know it's in December but what's the date?  

When I started this run back in 2006 I wanted to have it as close to Christmas as humanly possible so instead of picking a certain date, I chose to pick the last Sunday before Christmas. This way, it would be easy for everyone to remember and plan for and not have to worry about a specific 'date.'

Here are the run dates for the next 5 years: (Hope these are right on a quick glance.)

• 2012, Sunday December 23rd
• 2013, Sunday December 22nd
• 2014, Sunday December 21st
• 2015, Sunday December 20th
• 2016, Sunday December 18th

This years run leaves from the John Elway Dealers off of 35th Ave just North of Hwy 34. (Directly across from Agland)  Staging begins at 10 AM and the ride again leaves at Noon for Whiskey River.  The ride route and more details are listed on the Facebook Event page for the event and you can link to that page from the big red link directly below.

As always, we will be giving away FREE shirts and Sleigh Rider bar patches to the first 300 on motorcycles.  This year we will also have some extra shirts for sale for only $5 and it all goes directly back into the charity.  And new for this year, we will be offering free food at the staging area while it lasts but we should be able to accommodate about 200 hungry riders. (Donations will be graciously accepted)

So what does it all cost? Including no cover charge and a live band and great prizes you could win?

A Toy!  Yes, a toy will get you all this. For every toy you donate to the charity, you get a raffle ticket towards winning prizes. For every new, unwrapped toy you donate you will get a ticket; 3 toys = 3 tickets etc.

There is no other toy run quite like it and we hope you'll join us in making this the biggest year yet. Our board of directors will also be providing information on the Sleigh Riders group replanting a section of the High Park Fire area as we have been approved.

So there you go, pass it on. The only thing you have to remember is The Sleigh Riders Motorcycle Toy Run ALWAYS takes place the last Sunday before Christmas. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

In case of a "snow out" we will just meet at Whiskey River to donate our toys, eat, listen to the live band and we will still give out all prizes including gift cards from Thunder Mountain Harley and another signed football from John Elway.
