Load of Chalk for Chalk-a-Lot event

Greeley residents will have the opportunity to help set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous chalk art drawing in an event being called the 2014 Great Greeley Chalk-A-Lot!  The goal is to complete the chalk drawing at a length of 3.7 miles long and 6’6” wide to beat the record held by Jenna, Germany.

The event starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 6th and will run until 6 p.m. at the UNC parking lots located at 11th Avenue and 22nd Street. The event is free, simple, and no art experience is necessary.  All chalk and materials will be provided to participants that day.

Individuals, teams, and groups are encouraged to join the fun.  The drawing must follow a single theme, which will be “Nature.”  Art coaches will be on hand to help anyone interested with ideas and drawings. Over 72,000 sticks of chalk have been secured and available for the event. This YouTube video explains how it works:
