The project has been underway for more than a year and Saturday, October 8, the Town of Windsor celebrates the Recreation Center’s new 40,000-square-foot expansion from 3-6 p.m. Here's what's going on:
- 3 p.m. — Official ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the main entrance with an address by town officials.
- 3:30 p.m. — Dedication of the aquatic center on the pool deck.
- 4:15 p.m. — Dedication of the Tot Lot Playground with members of the Windsor Rotary Club.
- 3:30-6 p.m. — Facility open house with class/program demonstrations every half hour, a photo booth, giveaways and prizes, and building tours.

The expansion nearly doubles the existing facility and includes:
- Lap pool, lazy river, activity pool, zero-depth entry with play structure, water slide, and hot tub
- Elevated running track
- Designated open gym
- Locker rooms
- State-of-the-art fitness and weight equipment

Fees will be waived at the Community Recreation Center from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. Memberships and use fees will begin Monday, Oct. 10. Memberships can be purchased in person at the Community Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th Street, or by phone at 970-674-3500. For more information, visit

Beginning Monday, Oct. 10, the Community Recreation Center will be open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and Noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.
