Combine an extremely welcoming and very chill atmosphere with locally made brews and creative cocktails, as well as tons of tasty tapas, mixed with local music and lively entertainment. Besides just being one heck of a party, you get opening weekend at R Bar and Lounge in Fort Collins. Set for November 6 and 7, the grand opening of this bar will also be filling a void that has been missing within the city for over two years now.

When co-owners Leanna Valadez and Lisa Dunn open the doors to R Bar and Lounge to the public for the first time this Friday, it will be the first time that a gay-friendly bar has had a home in FoCo since Choice City Shots closed back in 2013. With the tagline, "an alternative bar for an alternative crowd," in mind, the two business partners created their new bar as a space to provide a welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters, but encourage everyone to stop by and hang out, no matter how they identify.

The party for opening night on Friday kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a DJ, dancing, an art show and a slightly risque drag show taking place at 9 p.m., all for no cover. On Saturday night, local indie-rock band Stella Luce will be providing live music beginning at 9 p.m. Owners Valadez and Dunn are excited to sponsor future events for the LGBTQ+ community and all crowds in general.

R Bar and Lounge is located just south of Old Town at 107 East Laurel Street and will be open weekly Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Plus, following the grand opening, jam out every weekend with live music! Follow them on Facebook to keep up with daily deals, updates and special events.
