The annual Estes Park Mountain Festival is giving us many reasons to celebrate this year – not only is it honoring Arbor Day, Earth Day and mountain culture, but it’s also a community party for the town’s 100th birthday. The fun will be happening April 28-29 at the Estes Park Events Complex, 1125 Rooftop Way, and the weekend’s events are all free to the public.

From 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, there will be informational programs about outdoor education and careers, rock climbing, plus local history and historical characters of Estes Park. Enjoy nature-themed music, as well as special performances from the Estes Park School District choirs, Estes Park first grade choir, and the Ballad of Joel Estes/Michael Estes Dixon. Movie screenings will be going on throughout the day, and around 2:15 p.m., Mayor Todd Jirsa plans to read an Arbor Day proclamation and Centennial proclamation.

The festivities start back up again at 11 a.m. on Saturday and last until 5 p.m., with additional educational programs, including tiny house living, Estes Thrives, avalanche safety and Longs Peak Preventative Search and Rescue. The live music also continues with featured bands Cousin Estes, Ran off the Rooster, and Chain Station. Delicious food trucks, interactive games, an animal petting barn, craft breweries and much more, make Saturday absolutely perfect for the entire family! And don’t miss out on the highlight of the afternoon, a big cake being served at approximately 4 p.m. to celebrate Estes Park’s Centennial birthday.
