Today is Vietnam Veterans Day. We owe so much to the veterans of this conflict. These folks fought a war that was as unpopular as could be in conditions that had been unseen before and then came home to less than the heroes welcome they deserved. We owe it to them to make up for that every day.
There are some people you need one name for, Reba is one of those people. When our country was celebrating it's bicentennial in 1976, Reba was beginning a recording career that would end up spanning 5 decades and counting.
Diabetes is something I care very deeply about. I have been trying to live with this complicated affliction for decades and it can be an exhausting battle. One of the things that is much worse than living with and trying to treat diabetes is living with it without even knowing you have it.
There is not a country singer alive who doesn't know Roger Miller's classic hit "King of the Road". That is one of those songs like "The Gambler" or "On the Road Again" that we all have known the words to our whole lives it seems. I think every road trip we ever took as a family included a group singing of "King of the Road".
One of the most exciting parts of my job as music director here at K99 is playing Nostradamus with the music and trying to predict what will be the big hits. I love getting to play a part in this and I have to say, I have had a pretty good track record through the past few decades of nailing these.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to our truck driving friends. They are out there in all types of unsavory conditions and keep rolling on to get the job done no matter what. We would have empty shelves and empty cupboards if it weren't for these folks that keep America rolling.
I am going to get in trouble with my wife for this but I ain't scared. What scares me is riding with her. I love my wife dearly and I appreciate when she takes the wheel and lets me just ride but I can't say it is a real restful time in the passenger seat.
I have been a fan of Brett Eldredge since the first time I heard the song "Raymond" about 6 years ago. I remember thinking that song was I loved about country music. It was a powerful lyric sung with soul and passion. I was hooked from that moment on.
One of the greatest things about living in Northern Colorado is the sense of community we seem to all share. This area takes care of their own and I am very proud of that. We have seen this time and time again in our years here at K99.
I don't often agree with politicians but on this date in 1990 the most honest statement that has ever been made by a politician was uttered by then President George Bush. It was 27 years ago today that he famously and defiantly proclaimed his hatred of broccoli. I could not agree more.
I love our Teacher Tuesday program. It is so cool to get to invade a classroom and make a teacher's day. Our teachers do so much for our kids that is nice to set aside one day a week to do something nice for them.
Today is National Fragrance Day. I had no idea we had a day for smells. This is the day to appreciate the smells of spring and other treats for your nose. This is the day to find that scent that takes you back to happy place. I know there are smells that remind us of places and people that make you feel good inside.
