I have been on a Buck Owens kick lately. I recently bought Dwight Yoakam's tribute album to Buck called "Dwight Sings Buck" and it has been playing constantly for weeks now. It really takes me back and reminds me how many great songs Buck recorded and there were a lot of them. It takes me back to a very happy time and place.

Music has always played a huge part in my life. I can remember my dad's huge stereo in the basement that was the size of a casket. I would sit downstairs and thumb through his records staring at the Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass album with the girl covered in whipped cream and then listening to all the Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers and Buck Owens. I was crazy about Buck Owens. I played his album "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail" thousands of times in my youth.

It was on this date back in 1964 that Buck went into the Capitol recording studios in Hollywood and recorded two of his all time classics "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail" and "Cryin' Time." He had so many amazing hits but these are two of my all time favs and they were both recorded in the same afternoon. Jump in the way back machine and let's go back to 1964 for a couple of great country classics.
