Brother Mel Retires After 30 Years In The BBQ Business

Brother Mel, also known as Melvin Johnson has closed Brother Mel’s BBQ after nearly 30 years in the restaurant and catering business.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradon, the local legend plans to concentrate on his church ministry at All Nations Pentecostal church and on producing and marketing his barbecue sauce over the Internet and at various farmers markets.

Here is the message Brother Mel left on his Facebook Page:

Today was Brother Mel's BBQ last day of operation. After over 28 years in the restaurant business, I thought it would be good for me to take a break and relax a bit. I will continue my seminars and ministry work with All Nations Church & Deliverance Center and I will be selling my popular Brother Mel's BBQ sauce wholesale and retail on an e-commerce site very soon. Thank you so much for your patronage over the years. I will miss each and every one of you! God Bless and Merry Christmas - Brother Mel and Family!

Brother Mel’s opened at 111 W. Prospect Road in Fort Collins five years ago.
