Brian’s Top Ten George Strait Songs
It is no secret that I consider myself one of the biggest George Strait fans in the world, and no I don’t mean size wise. I have traveled all over the country to see George perform. I have had 2 musical heroes in my life, Elvis and George, both just ooze cool and charisma. I have given myself a very difficult assignment today, come up with a top ten list of my all time favorite George Strait songs. Keep in mind that he has had at least 57 number one hits, over 30 albums and 300 plus songs, so this is no easy task. Now these are my personal favorites and mine will differ from your list greatly. I left off some of the classics that I am sure would even be on top of your list, like “Amarillo By Morning” or “All My Ex’s” or “The Fireman”, but again, these are MY all time favorites. Here we go with Brian Gary’s Top Ten All Time Favorite George Strait Songs….
10-Beyond The Blue Neon– it just has the cool classic George sound from 1989
9- Fly Me To The Moon (with Frank Sinatra)- this was George’s box set and was to be on one of Frank’s “Duets” cd’s but never made the cut. It makes me smile every time
8-Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song– this one was an album cut on his Troubadour cd that I just love
7-Baby Blue– “Like the Colorado sky” enough said
6-Nobody In His Right Mind– one of his number one’s from 86
5-Unwound– Garth credits this song for making him want to be a country star. His first hit in 1981
4-The Cowboy Rides Away– His signature tune and still his farewell song at concerts.
3-I Just Want To Dance With You– I have found memories of dancing in the rain to this one at Mile High Stadium in the late 90’s
2-The Chair– one of the best country songs ever recorded…and my number one all time favorite George Strait song is
1-The Seashores Of Old Mexico– I know this is an odd choice to most but I just love the feel of this Merle Haggard written gem.
Now it’s your turn. What are your top ten?
