Brian’s Nephew Jay Flaa Drafted by Baltimore Orioles in MLB Draft

Yesterday was one of the most exciting days in the history of my family. We are all big sports fans and were raised playing,watching, competing in and loving sports. My son Nick was an amazing athlete in high school and my daughter was an excellent softball player as well. Now we spend our days watching our grandson Zander begin his t-ball career. He has some big shoes to fill though because of my nephew Jay.

Today is Jay's birthday and he will be celebrating like never before because yesterday he was drafted in the 6th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. We are all so proud of Jay. He has always been a great athlete but really excelled the last couple of years at North Dakota State University. He is a big right handed relief pitcher who can throw the ball in the high 90's. We were hoping he would go somewhere in the 8-10th round area but got the call even earlier than expected. He told me that he and my his dad, my brother Mike, were listening to the draft and when they announced his name they jumped into each others arms. I can picture that father/son embrace and it makes me tear up. I am so happy for him and our entire family. There will be a big party at my brother's house tonight and I sure wish I could be there but Kyla and I will be at home in our Oriole hats cheering right along and celebrating the big day. Congrats Jay! Let the strikeouts begin.
