If you have listened to the Good Morning Guys at all throughout the years you know that our two main passions are children and veterans, which makes what happened Saturday night even more special. Saturday I went down to the American Legion Post #32 in Longmont for the annual Jeff Luginbuel Media Awards Banquet where K99 was presented the radio station of the year award.

I cannot even begin to tell you what a huge honor this was. I have won many awards through the years. I remember when we won the CMA and I got to stand on that stage in Nashville and receive an award in front of my country music heroes and how cool that felt. I have to say that was nothing in comparison to receiving an award from real American heroes Saturday night. To stand in front of our men and women who were willing to stand up and fight for me without ever meeting me was humbling to say the least. Because of what these heroes have done in their lives, I am able to get up each day and live the American dream. This long haired freak is able to get up, play music and goof off for living because of the America these men and women created for me.

I made a lot of new friends, met some amazing new people and had a wonderful evening. Thank you to the entire American Legion Department of Colorado, the kind folks who nominated K99 for the award, the young marines who served our delicious meal and Darrell Myers the public relations chairman for a night of honor I will never forget.

I am so proud to be an American. Thank you veterans.
