Keith Urban is one of the hottest artists on the planet. We have loved him in country for years but since his stint on American Idol the last few years, all music fans know of his amazing talent. There may not be a better guitar player on the planet and he makes some darn fine albums as well. His new release 'Ripcord' proves his talent once again.

We already know of the hits 'John Cougar John Deere John 3:16', 'Break on Me' and 'Wasted Time' but there is much much more here. There is bit of everything on this record from the funky beats of 'Sun Don't Go Down on Me' with Pitbull and Nile Rodgers to the killer duet with Carrie Underwood called 'The Fighter'. I think the duet with Carrie will be one of those songs you hear on every format of radio. It will be a monster.

The whole disc is excellent but there are a few cuts that stand out to me. There is a very clever tune called 'Boy Gets a Truck' that tracks a man's life through the life of a truck which is very tasty. The lyrics of 'Gettin in the Way' is song writing at it's best. I love the lyrics of this one. It is about a guy who is trying to leave and get on with life but her lips keep 'gettin in the way'. Love this one. My favorite on the disc though, without a doubt, is the gorgeous 'Blue Ain't Your Color'. This is one of the most beautiful tunes I have heard in some time.

Once again, Keith has put out a killer album that has a little something for every musical taste. There is country, there is funk, there is rock, there is music. Do yourself a favor and give a pull to Keith Urban's Ripcord.
