There is nothing I love more than sitting outside on a beautiful weekend with a cold Coors Light, my dogs running in the yard, a fire going, and listening to some great music. Here's my weekend playlist for the weekend of March 11, 2016. I hope you enjoy some of these cuts as much as I do.

Brandy Clark - Girl Next Door

Brandy is one of my favorite all time artists.  In addition to being a ridiculously brilliant songwriter, her first album,12 Stories is on forever repeat in my house. Brandy will also be at The Boot in Loveland on March 30th as part of our New from Nashville.  You can bet I will be singing aloud to this jam Girl Next Door.

    Favorite Lyrics:

My house and my mouth and my mind get kinda of trashy.

    Sorry I ain't sorry
    That I ain't your Marsha Brady, uh-uh
If I ever met her, bet she'd probably hate me
    Cause you'd wanna date me

Chris Stapleton - What Are You Listening To

Chris Stapleton's voice is like chicken soup for me.  It's beautiful, and it doesn't even matter what he sings. The truth is Chris has been around Nashville a lot longer than many know. He has had an overdue ride to critical acclaim, thanks in part to the release of his Traveller album and subsequent duet on the 2015 CMA Awards with Justin Timberlake. This song pre-dated the release of Traveller but I wouldn't hate hearing this on the radio.  A classic breakup and longing for you song.

    Favorite Lyric:

    What are you listening to
Is it a cover band in some college town bar
Where it's na-na-na's and air guitars
Or is it something to get you through
Just a sad song playing on the radio station

    Eric Paslay - High Class

Eric Paslay is a genuine treat to have on country radio. His single "Friday Night" continues to be one of my weekend anthems. High Class is one of those singles that just makes you feel good, and you can sing perfectly along with it.

    Favorite Lyric:

Rent us a car, show up late
    Valet, that's right
    Credit on my cards
    Money in the bank
    At least for tonight

    Maren Morris - My Church

Maren Morris is one to watch in 2016.  She is an incredible talent, and I can't wait to hear more of her music.  Her first released single, My Church pays homage to country music legends and is just a great song to crank with the windows down.

    Favorite Lyric:

    When Hank brings the sermon
    And Cash leads the choir
It gets my cold, cold heart burning
Hotter than a ring of fire

Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out

They are not country music, I love Twenty One Pilots! Their single Stressed Out has kind of a reggae feel mixed with a tiny bit of rap and pop.  It just makes me happy to sing!

    Favorite Lyric:

Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young,
How come I'm never able to identify where it's coming from,
I'd make a candle out of it if I ever found it,
Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I'd probably only sell one.

Blake Shelton - Came Here to Forget

Blake's new single Came Here to Forget has been getting a lot of attention mainly because he said that it does have to Gwen Stefani but beyond that, it's a pretty damn good song.

    Favorite Lyric:

That first kiss was like a Colorado hit
You better keep on keeping it lit
    'Til we can't remember
Can't remember why we came here to forget...

    Alabama - Dixieland Delight

For Valentine's Day this year I got a record player. I'm a huge Alabama fan and went to Downtown Sound in Loveland and picked up an Alabama record. Dixieland Delight takes me back to simpler times but, more importantly, sounds rad on vinyl.

    Favorite Lyric:

A chubby old groundhog, croakin' bullfrog,
Free as the feelin' in the wind.
Home grown country girl, gonna give me a whirl,
    On a Tennessee Saturday night.

    Thomas Rhett - T-Shirt

Oh, Thomas Rhett.  I love him.  He's talented and madly in love with his wife.  His latest single T-Shirt is just a fun song with a great beat.

    Favorite Lyric:

    T-Shirt right there
Your hair messed up like a Guns-N-Roses video
    Ooh Ooh So Hot

Note: I wish that's how I woke up, but it more is like "your hair messed up like a Guns-N-Roses video and your face looking like you got punched at a Guns-N-Roses show."
