Blake Shelton insists that his big career success hasn't changed him. In fact, when the country music star wants to go out on a great date with Miranda Lambert, he looks no further than the back roads of Oklahoma.

With Shelton based in Hollywood to film 'The Voice,' you would think his time at the couple's sprawling landmass in Johnston County, Okla. would be limited. But where there's a will, there's always a way.

"As soon as we're done on Wednesdays, my a-- is on the plane," Shelton tells Men's Journal for the magazine's August issue (quote via People). "I get in my truck, I see the fields, see the cows."

The couple's home is near the small town of Tishomingo, Okla. And when we say small, we mean tiny.

"There's a Dollar General on Main Street, and a Family Dollar," Shelton explains. "And if you can't find what you need there … the closest Walmart is … 15 miles away."

So what do Shelton, 37, and Lambert, 29, do for a hot date when they are hanging out in Oklahoma? As the singer explains it, it sounds a lot like a country song.

"Throwing a cooler in the back of the pickup and driving around the property clearing brush and singing to the radio," says Shelton, who admits to enjoying a few drinks before leaving the house. "Or else having dinner at the all-you-can-eat rib buffet and dessert at Dairy Queen. When we get home, we like to be home."

It sounds like spending six months out of the year in California hasn't changed Shelton -- or Lambert -- one bit.
