Blake Shelton vs. Jake Owen – The Showdown

Last week’s Showdown was a battle of heavyweights. Kenny Chesney and Blake Shelton faced off and matched each other vote for vote until Sunday night’s closing bell. In the end, ‘Come Over’ lost by less than two percentage points, meaning Shelton’s ‘Over’ moves on to face a new challenger. 

This week, that challenger is Jake Owen and his new single ‘The One That Got Away.’ The third single from ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’ is on a quest to become Owen’s third straight chart-topper. It’s a mid-tempo, summer love story that finds Owen looking back at a romance that almost was.

Shelton returns with his emotional ballad. ‘Over’ could become the singer’s seventh straight No. 1 song, a streak that spans three separate albums. Like Owen, he’s just released a new video to further paint details to the story he’s trying to tell.
