Birth Control For Wild Horses
There are two very pregnant mares in my barn along with the stallion responsible for their conditions. They’ve all been happily living together for almost a year now. After the foals are born I’ll keep the mares and stallion separated. That’s kind of a drag for everyone. Wouldn’t it be great if there was birth control for domestic horses?
“POWELL, Wyo. (AP) – The Bureau of Land Management wants to
conduct another birth control program for McCullough Peaks wild
horses in northern Wyoming.
The BLM proposal would provide birth control on the horses for
at least the next five years to help control the size of the herd.
The birth control would be administered by darting the horses.
Horses will not be rounded up.
The goal is to inoculate around 65 mares this spring.
The Powell Tribune reports the McCullough’s wild horses were
previously treated with birth control in 2004 and 2009.
There are about 124 mustangs in the herd. The bureau has
determined the McCullough Peaks will support between 70 and 140
mustangs.
The BLM is taking public comment on the plan until Feb. 22.”

Greeley Stampede Announces Grand Marshals
Yesterday the Greeley Stampede announced Bill and Sharon Farr as the 2013 Greeley Stampede Grand Marshals. Bill Farr is a fourth generation Greeley native and the third generation in his family, including Harry W. Farr and W.D. Farr, to be chosen as a Grand Marshal. He and his family
