Biking and beer make up a huge part of the culture in the Fort Collins community, providing jobs for many within both industries, biking as common means of transportation and exercise, and both being used for social and personal activities and entertainment. This weekend, the two will become intertwined for a fundraiser that promotes safe-cycling and bicycle education in our town that's filled with many who strongly favor getting around on two wheels.

Bikes N' Ales is a two-day event, kicking off Friday, November 6 at 4 p.m. and happening all over again at the same time on Saturday, November 7. Bicyclists can purchase tickets online or in-person at The Downtown Artery (252 Linden Street), that will act as beer tokens at participating brew houses in Old Town. For $15 you will get three beer tokens plus a map and for $5 more you can also get a commemorative pint glass. Members of Bike Fort Collins will receive four beer tokens. One ticket is equivalent to three beer tokens. The locations that will be featured as stops on this year's biking-brew tour are CooperSmith's Pub & Brewing, The Downtown Artery, PinBall Jones, and Pour Brothers Community Tavern.

Not only will participants have the opportunity to quench their thirst with delicious and locally made craft brews, but all proceeds that are made from the weekend will go straight towards benefiting Bike Fort Collins, a non-profit group who celebrate their enthusiasm of biking by being advocates within the community and helping to create a better place to ride. Besides just hosting a variety of fantastic bicycle-centered events around town throughout the year, members of Bike Fort Collins dedicate their time to teaching others about safety issues and how to be a responsible bicyclists.

If Bikes N' Ales sounds like something you really want to be a part of, but maybe you don't have a bike to pedal from pub to pub with – the Fort Collins Bike Library can help with that, by allowing you to rent one out for the afternoon.
