Becky Hammon Continues to Impress After 13 Years in the WNBA

In Fort Collins and Northern Colorado we have loved her since she did magical things at Colorado State back in the 1998-1999 season leading the Rams to a 33-3 record and a Sweet 16 birth in the NCAA Tournament. Now after 13 seasons in the WNBA you may have lost touch with Becky a little as I had, but don't you worry, she is doing just fine. 

It took her awhile to get started in womens professional basketball, but when she did, she never looked back. A six-time WNBA all-star, Hammon also became the seventh player ever to score over 5,000 points in the WNBA last season.

This week for the eighth time in her career Hammon was named the Western Conference Player of the Week, the WNBA announced Monday. Hammon helped lead the her team, the San Antonio Silver Stars, to a 4-0 record on the week as the team improved its overall record to 11-5 and moved into second place in the Western Conference. For the week, Hammon averaged 20.3 points and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 44.8 percent (13 of 29) from beyond the arc and 82.4 percent (14 of 17) from the free-throw line.

Hammon leads the WNBA with 5.7 assists per game while ranking second on the team with 16.8 points per contest. She is shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 48.5 percent from beyond the arc on the season.
