Banner Health Breaks Ground on Banner Fort Collins Medical Center [PICTURES]

Today marked a historic occasion in the health world for Northern Colorado, as construction was officially started on a brand new hospital.

Fort Collins Mayor Karen Weitkunat attended the ground breaking ceremony today at the future site of the Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, along with Banner Health President and CEO Peter S. Fine.

The 28-acre hospital will be located on the southeast corner of East Harmony Road and Lady Moon Drive, in southern Fort Collins.

Plans for the 145,000-square-foot, two-story hospital include an emergency department, 24 inpatient beds, labor and delivery rooms, medical imaging, women’s services, surgical services and lab services.

It's nice to see the South end of Fort Collins (where I happen to live) getting its own medical center.  There's a lot of piece of mind knowing that the nearest hospital will no longer be 20 minutes away!

The new facility is set to be completed by Spring of 2015.
