A family had a scary surprise when they discovered that their baby video monitor was hacked and was being broadcasted openly to the internet. A Minnesota family that wishes to remain anonymous, thought they were doing in the best thing, like many parents, when it came to keeping an eye on their sleeping baby. However, they soon learned otherwise when they heard unfamiliar music coming from their babies room. When they would walk into the nursery, the music would turn off.

After their concern grew, the family used camera software and found the IP address from the access logs. When they followed the IP address, they learned that the music they were hearing was coming from Amsterdam... They also found hundreds of other videos that were searchable and sortable by things like what country and even what room you wanted to view. They counted at least fifteen different countries with cams in peoples kitchens, living rooms, kids rooms and even master bedrooms.

Security advisors suggest two ways to avoid this. One, changing your password often... and two, ditch the camera and just check in on your kids the old fashioned way.
