The Denver Broncos have been a large part of the Colorado community for a long time now, and now with numerous fires burning our beautiful state up the Broncos have stepped up to help. On Wednesday the Broncos pledged to make a $50,000 donation to assist with relief efforts for the wildfires burning in Colorado, Owner Pat Bowlen announced.
Just when it seemed as though George Lopez had done just about everything there is to do as an entertainer from having a radio show, doing a sports show, and starring in movies to having his own sitcom and late-night talk show, he is back with something new. A reality dating show! “Take Me Out” premiered on FOX earlier this month.
Summers in Northern Colorado haven’t been the same since the Denver Broncos packed up for good, left Greeley, and headed to their new training camp headquarters closer to their home in Denver. The practices are still free to watch, but it is most likely a longer drive to Englewood rather than the former training camp home at the University of Northern Colorado. Here is the schedule of events…
When you think of Fort Collins what comes to mind? I bet I can guess what two of those things are for almost every person… Mountains and beer. The mountains have taken center stage with the High Park Fire burning them for almost two weeks. But the beer gets to shine this weekend. The 23rd annual Colorado Brewers’ Festival will be held at Civic Center Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 22-24.
If you didn’t already know, our studio is located in Windsor. After working here for the last almost five years I have fallen in love with the town. But if there is one knock I have on the town, it is the lack of quality restaurants. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few, just not many. My taste buds are dancing with excitement as I tell you, we just added a new one!
The Colorado Ice had exactly what they wanted with two games left this season… Win either one and you get to host a playoff game in the first round of the Indoor Football League (IFL) Playoffs. The Ice lost them both and now are forced to travel to Kennewick, Washington to play a Tri-Cities Fever team who already beat them twice this year and knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
When I was a kid I can remember my family always making the comment “I wish I had half as much energy as that kid.” I always got annoyed by it thinking that they were just lazy, and if they really wanted to they could get off the couch and run around in circles and bounce off the walls with me. Now that I have kids of my own I realize that their energy level really is through the roof and people weren’t kidding when they made those comments! I am always looking for creative ways to burn the kid’s energy, and this weekend it’s a no-brainer! Jr. JAM! The day where it’s fun to be a kid.
It used to be an everyday thing in the summer that the Denver Broncos were hanging out in Greeley. Times have changed, and now it’s rare to have the Broncos in town. That rare opportunity occurs today as the Broncos will arrive in Greeley today as part of their Broncos Country Caravan 2012 tour through Colorado which began in in Trinidad in May. As part of their tour, the team will make appearances at the Rodarte Community Center, Sports Authority and then culminate the event at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Nottingham Field.
I can think of a lot of good stuff I would buy if I had $12 million. Road work probably wouldn’t be on the top of my list, but if you have driven on Highway 85 in Greeley recently, you know that it is in need. That is why someone is spending their $12 million, I guess it’s ours in a way, on fixing ‘er up! The project to reconstruct and add safety improvements to almost three miles of U.S. 85 in Greeley begins today.
It was well documented that Greeley gets it’s water from the mountains near where the first wildfire was burning earlier this spring near Fort Collins. The residents in Greeley lucked out though, that the ash and soot from the Hewlett Gulch Fire didn’t affect their drinking water. That could all change. Should a big rainfall come, that could mean big problems for Greeley’s water.
The Denver Broncos will arrive in Greeley on Thursday, June 14 as part of their Broncos Country Caravan 2012 tour through Colorado which began in in Trinidad in May. As part of their tour, the team will make appearances at the Rodarte Community Center, Sports Authority and then culminate the event at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Nottingham Field.
I often wonder when there is a huge tragedy like a wildfire that destroys homes and peoples lives, why we worry so much about what caused it while there is other work to be done. Human nature, I guess is the answer. We look so quickly to blame someone, to make someone a villain. With the High Park Fire though, the villain was mother nature. Officials say lightning started the now 41,000 acre fire. But the fire didn’t get going until Saturday, and we hadn’t had lightning since Wednesday. How does that work?
