Rockies Swept by Angels, Lose Fifth Straight
The Colorado Rockies (24-35) battled back to tie the game at 6-6 in only the second inning yesterday, but the visiting Los Angeles Angels (32-29) had more firepower than Colorado could keep up with, and the Rockies fell for the fifth straight time, losing to L.A. 10-8. The Rockies are off today before hosting the Oakland Athletics (26-35) tomorrow night.
Angels 11, Rockies 5
Five home runs were not enough as the Colorado Rockies (24-34) lost 11-5 to the visiting Los Angeles Angels (31-29) last night in Denver. Saturday's loss came in the return to Colorado of Jeff Francis, who pitched for the Rockies from 2004-10. The finale of the three-game series is this afternoon at 1:10 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Third Straight Loss: Angels 7, Rockies 2
The Colorado Rockies (24-33) lost for the third straight time last night, falling to the visiting Los Angeles Angels (30-29) 7-2 in interleague play. Angels right fielder Torri Hunter batted in six of the seven runs. Rockies starter Alex White got the loss. The two teams go again this afternoon at 2:10 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Rockies Open Weekend Series vs. Angels
The Colorado Rockies (24-32) return from their Arizona road trip to open a three-game weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels (29-29) at Coors Field. Rockies Lose Series Finale to D-backs 6-1
The Colorado Rockies (24-32) lost the rubber game of the three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks (27-30) last night in Phoenix 6-1. Colorado starter Josh Outman gave up five runs in the first three innings, and the Rox never recovered. The Rockies return home for a six-game interleague homestand that starts tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Angels (29-29).
