The Denver Nuggets, in a must-win situation, topped the Los Angeles Lakers 102-99 in Game 5 of the NBA first round playoff series last night in the Staples Center. Starting Rockies pitcher Drew Pomeranz hit his first Major League home run before being hit by a line drive, forcing him to leave the game in the third inning. Nuggets Fall to Lakers in Game 4, Trail Series 3-1
The Denver Nuggets fell to the Los Angeles Lakers 92-88 last night in Denver. The outcome wasn't decided until the final minute, but the LA dominated for much of the game. Danilo Gallinari had 20 points and Andre Miller had 15 points off the bench for the Nuggets. The two teams head back to Los Angeles for Game 5 tomorrow night.
Braves Beat Rockies 7-2 to Complete Weekend Sweep
The Colorado Rockies (12-15) ended at tough nine-game homestand yesterday by losing to the Atlanta Braves (18-11) 7-2, completing the series sweep by the visitors. Pitching continues to be a problem for the Rockies who went 3-6 over the last nine at home. The Rockies face off against the San Diego Padres tonight at Petco Park at 8:05 MT (TV: Root Sports).
