I was just a kid when the Colorado Rockies played their first game in 1993, but I do remember the first owner, Jerry McMorris (pictured on the left.) Some sad news today, as the original owner of the Colorado Rockies has passed away at the age of 71.
I was glad to see it rain on Sunday and waking to more rain this morning. It’s been so dry around here, so it was some much needed moisture, but apparently it won’t help much according to a CSU Climatologist.
CSU has expelled three football players that were involved in an off-campus brawl incident on April 6th. Nordly Capi, Mike Orakpo and Colton Paulhus are charged with Disorderly Conduct and have now been expelled from Colorado State University.
Talk about a “May Day” for some folks in Greeley today. A roof was ripped off a house this afternoon after a suspected “microburst” of wind. Just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, Greeley firefighters were called to 2405 49th Ave. Ct, in Greeley on a report of on a possible explosion. When Greeley firefighters arrived they found the roof had been completely torn off of the home, apparently from a wind “microburst.”
There might be less mosquitoes in Greeley this summer! The City of Greeley is increasing it’s mosquito control this year, to the tune of $50,000! In past years the city has only spent about $1,000 a season controlling the buzzing biters. According to city officials, Greeley was spending far less on mosquito control in past years compared to surrounding cities and towns like Loveland, Windsor and Dacono.
Have you noticed that gas prices have dropped over the last week or so? This is a trend I’d like to see continue! Our studio is right across from a Shell/7-Eleven gas station in Windsor so I can keep an eye on the gas price sign daily and I’m loving the downward trend I have been seeing.
My watching the sign across the street is far from in-depth research, but last week it was at $3.95, today it is at $3.87. Will the downward trend continue?
We have all heard the US Postal Service is in trouble. There are rumors of that many post offices across the country could be closed and there is a chance that Saturday mail service could be discontinued.
The US Senate passed a plan to help the struggling Postal Service and save thousands of jobs. Personally, I rarely use the mail, mostly just email and I receive almost all of my bills and other personal items via email, so I wouldn’t miss Saturday mail delivery.
