D Dennison

I have shared my loved for country music with K99 since 2003 and bring over 20 years of experience to the playground every day. I'm a quirky, rambling woman who brightens up the workday from 10-3. In 2010 I was the winner of the Colorado Broadcasters Association's DJ of the year for my time slot in 2010. Personally I have shared my life intimately with the K99 family through the 28 hours of Hope and I continue to overcome, grow and thrive. I am married and frequently refer to my husband as “My James.” Additional I am the mother of four children, Zachariah, Natasha, Ashley and Colton. Ashley & Colton tragically passed away in car accident in June of 2012; they have now made the journey to another world, but made a huge impact on our community through their charitable efforts, kind words and desire to make this world a better place for all. I miss them dearly, but the work that they did and the lives they influenced continues to impact our "everydays" and for that they will be remembered endlessly.

Recipe Rescue: 2014 Diet Resolution Chicken Salad

I literally spent forever in the kitchen last night trying to create a hearty chicken salad that was flavorful and with less calories than normal chicken salad. After tasting it and tweaking it a million times (thanks too to my James for being my guinea pig) I think that I nailed it. Check out my recipe and tell me what you think.

Recipe Rescue: Slim Down Turkey Wrap to Help With Your Diet Resolutions in 2014

In an effort to start eating healthier, not a new years resolution mind you, just a tropical vacation motivator for late spring. It's okay, you can call me vain, but I'm being honest. I could have said it was to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure, but really those will just be great side effects to getting healthier.

What is the Hardest New Year’s Resolution to Keep? [POLL]

I am not a new years resolution setter, I failed one too many times to put any stock into me actually accomplishing something just because we started a new year. But there are many people that swear by resolutions, they make them every year and mostly accomplish their tasks, at least partially. So, I ask you, which of the popular resolutions do you think are the hardest to keep?

There are so many great people in this community. When we, as individuals, need anything it seems there is someone standing there with their arms wide open to help. Trimming the Tree and Wrapping Presents with D Dennison [PICTURES]

Every year since I can remember we have trimmed the tree on Thanksgiving and I've wrapped presents up to just before they were opened. This year we waited a couple of weeks longer, but unlike last year, we DID put up a tree. And thanks to my long time friend, who is more like a sister, I suddenly am obsessed with matching my wrapping paper with my tree scheme. Oh bother!

When a Basket of Goodies Comes to the Office What do you Grab? [POLL]

Clearly I am a dork, I show you that on the air daily and the fact that I rarely eat sweets is another sign that my marbles are a little loose. When I come into the studio and there is a basket of goodies, I always go through it hoping that there will be a tasting snack that doesn't taste like I just stuck my head in a bag of sugar. Low and behold there typically is an item or two that finds its way into my snackland. What do you grab out of the Goodies basket?

Recipe Rescue: Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes; Semi-Homemade

You want to cook during the week, but when the schedule is a choir performance followed by a wrestling match followed by volunteering at the food bank, time is more precious than ever. So strap on the apron for about half an hour and get moving.
