Over 3,000 years plus an additional 12 consecutive life sentences. That’s what the judge handed down to James Holmes on August 26, 2015, over three years since his attack on innocent movie-goers.

District Judge handed down 3,318 years- the maximum allowed in Colorado.

From ABC7News:

[Judge Samour commented:]"The anguish experienced by the victims was caused by some of the most horrific, unthinkable, unspeakable, heinous, cowardly acts."

Samour also said, "In the end, what the defendant did is unacceptable. And the community, through the jury, said he must be fully accountable to the law."

With his defense team announcing that they will not be appealing the decision, the survivors of the attack and the families of the 12 people killed, will not have to go through any more anguish because of this man.
