There was an attempted armed kidnapping of a woman in Loveland this morning. Police arrested a man in connection with the case but are still looking for anyone else who may have more information.

It makes me sick that we still have to worry about this type of thing in our society.

According to the Coloradoan, this mornings' attack happened to a woman getting into her car at a shopping center on 29th Street an armed man tried to force his way into her vehicle. Thankfully she was able to fight him off. And Police later arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the case.

If you have any information about the case and haven't already talked to police, please call Det. Rob Pride at (970) 962-2244 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at (970) 221-6868.

Scary.

I hate that anyone has to be worried about being attacked in our society. Colorado does have better violent crime statistics in most categories than the national average, but they still happen.Look at these projected crime statistics for 2013 from CityRating.

  • Loveland - 1,839 property crimes and 13 violent crimes
  • Fort Collins - 4,414 property crimes and 546 violent crimes
  • Windsor - 463 property crimes and 17 violent crimes
  • Greeley - 2,530 property crimes and 556 violent crimes

Now, I'm not sure what the intentions were of guy from this morning's attack, but when a man attacks and tries to kidnap a woman, my first thought is rape (sadly). And did you know that  over 18% of women in the United States have been a rape victim (either attempted or completed)? That's one in every five or six women you know!

Stay safe out there.
