As we enter into the year 2015, the argument on whether it’s AD or CE, has at least one teacher and one organization butting heads; with one student potentially getting $300.

2015. Simple enough, right? Until you start to write it down in an official sense- as in “2015 AD”. “AD” comes from the Latin ‘in the year of our lord’. “BC”- we all know as “Before Christ”. “CE” is a somewhat newer reference- “Common Era”. Obviously, we wouldn’t use BC to state the current year. But which would YOU use – AD or CE?

Word has it, that a high school teacher in Loveland has stated that he/she will give any student who uses “AD” on a paper in their class, a failing grade. The teacher has said to have said the reason is for tolerance of others- since, “AD” refers to Christ, and, in this teacher’s opinion, “CE” just refers the passage of time as we know it.

However, by not trying to offend peoples' religions, this teacher HAS offended at least one group. According to LovelandPolitics.com, the first student that does use “AD” and is given a failing grade because of it, will be given $300 so that LovelandPolitics.com can have evidence of the teacher’s action.

From LovelandPolitics.com:

..we will pay you $300 for your story so we may better expose the teacher and a movement to deny history in the name of multi-culturalism.

Thing is, it’s hard to know if this is really on the up and up. They don’t list what teacher, at which high school so nobody can investigate the claim any further. Some have said that those behind LovelandPolitics.com are not to be trusted.

So, have your sons and daughters be on the watch for their chance to fail and make a quick $300! Or, for their chance to not fail, but maybe go against what you and your family believe to be the correct distinction in what year it is.
