Early Sunday morning a motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old Fort Collins man ran into a Jeep pulling out of a parking lot on West Elizabeth Street in Fort Collin. According to the Coloradoan, Gavin Riker was taken to a hospital where he later died of blunt force injuries.

Fort Collins Police Services responded to the accident in the 1200 block of West Elizabeth Street at around 2:30am on August 28th. The Jeep Cherokee driven by 21-year-old Daniel Mansfield was pulling out of a parking lot when the motorcycle traveling westbound collided with the side of it.

Police believe speed may have contributed to the accident. Elizabeth Street was closed between Shields Street and City Park Avenue for about 5 hours. The investigation is continuing.

The previous weekend, August 21st, a Fort Collins couple was killed on Hwy. 34 east of Loveland when a car veered over a double yellow line. Joshua and Sherri Zander were killed instantly when the motorcycle they were riding was hit head-on by that vehicle near the mouth of the Big Thompson Canyon.
