Temperatures will be above freezing again today in Fort Collins and for most of us, temperatures in the 40's later this week will feel like springtime. Last week was one of our longest cold streaks in 125 years, but brace yourself, another arctic cold front is heading our way and this one could make it even colder leading up to Christmas!

7News Meteorologist Mike Nelson says that he expects another blast of cold air to hit Colorado around the 20th or 21st of December and hang around until Christmas. Keep in mind this is just a long term forecast, so maybe we can get lucky and weather patterns will change enough to spare us from a Christmas week of sub-zero temperatures, but if Mike's guess is right, this is what we can expect:

Another surge of bitter cold air swinging in here late next week.  Several inches of snow would fall in Denver by the 20th or 21st, with heavy snow in the mountains as well.

Temperatures would plummet well below zero for the days leading up to Christmas, so the snow would certainly stay on the ground.  Travel before the holidays would certainly be impacted by the bitter cold and the snow.

The cold and snow would likely also spread across the east coast, possibly creating some major travel headaches for the holidays.

I don't know about you, but I am about done with he extreme cold. I love chilly days, I love snow, but I've had it with this 20-below-zero mularky.

Granted, it won't be as cold as the 135-below zero that was recently recorded in Antarctica, but it will still be friggn' chilly!
