When you think of all the great female vocalists in the history of country music the name Anne Murray should come up right away but is often forgotten. We remember Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn and many other but Anne rarely gets the credit she deserves. In 1980 Anne released her Greatest Hits album. This thing was full of hits like "Shadows In The Moonlight", "Danny's Song", "Daydream Believer" and the all time classic "You Needed Me".

It was 11 years later in 1991 that the Greatest Hits album reached an unheard of sales mark. She sold over 4 million copies of it and became the first female country artist to have an album reach that mark. Anne Murray should be considered among the all time greats. Here is a clip of her singing the smash "You Needed Me" on a Johnny Cash Christmas special.
