Al’s Newsstand Closes Doors After 47 Years in Old Town Fort Collins
My husband Bob and I will miss...REALLY miss our early Sunday morning jaunts to Al's Newsstand in Old Town Fort Collins. We've been loyal patrons for as long as Bob has smoked cigars. The neat and tidy old store on North College Avenue boasts a comprehensive selection of cigars, but what I loved most were all the magazines catering to every interest, including my love of horses and the western lifestyle.
There are several fridge magnets in my kitchen from Al's that bring smiles and their selection of postcards made you want to actually write on them and sent them snail mail. Nostalgic and sweet.
The Coloradoan reports that Al's magazine distributor went out of business earlier this year and that made getting magazines near impossible, a sign of a changing industry.
Closing Date is September 15th.
