Brand New With Barnes is a new weekly feature where I play a new song never before heard on K99 and your vote dictates if we add to our rotation or not. Next up is Alan Jackson who has written and recorded songs that have celebrated and chronicled life since “Here in the Real World” put him on the music map.  Jackson has found himself right in the middle of some elite company like Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Merle Haggard as the only songwriters who’ve written and recorded more than 20 songs that they’ve also taken to the top of the charts.

Alan Jackson's journey continues with 13 brand new songs that comprise his latest CD called "Thirty Miles West" which features his latest single called "You Go Your Way."

Thirty Miles West, released June 5th of this year, is the seventeenth studio album for Jackson and his first on his own label called Alan's Country Records in a joint venture with EMI Nashville. The albums title, Thirty Miles West is in reference to a song about a stretch of the Dixie Highway near Jackson's hometown of Newnan, Georgia. The album also contains a song called "Dixie Highway," featuring Zac Brown on a duet.
