Alan Jackson Brings Relief to Colorado Wildfire Victims

Alan Jackson reached out to the victims of the Colorado wildfires by doing what he does best — putting on an entertaining concert. On Thursday (June 28), the country superstar played the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where he raised thousands of dollars for the devastated area.

“It’s just the saddest thing. I’m just heart broke about all the fires out here,” Jackson told the crowd during the concert (quote via CountryMusicIsLove). “We really appreciate all the great people that have been helping them out here. They sold some of the seats down here on a special deal to try and raise some money to help fight that battle — whoever bought those, that was mighty nice of y’all and I really appreciate it.”

All proceeds from the release of the special front row seats were donated to the Denver Foundation — Colorado’s oldest and largest community foundation — for use by the Colorado Wildfire Relief Fund, which was created and designated by the state’s governor. The tickets were released to the public the morning of show, and within hours, several thousand dollars were raised toward the effort.

In May, Jackson flexed his charitable muscle for the town of Mineral, Va., raising a whopping $152,000 with a unique radio-sponsored contest for the town, which was ravaged by an earthquake last year.

“I’ve played so many shows now for everything you can imagine. You walk out on stage in the arenas and all, it gets to be kind of routine,” Jackson said of his iconic career, adding, “This [was] a little different. You don’t have to do the same show. You don’t have to go out there and try to be all energetic. Every now and then it’s good to do a show like that.”

When Jackson isn’t using his celebrity status to help those in need, the singer can be found on the road promoting his current release, ‘Thirty Miles West,’ which debuted at No. 1 last month with almost 73k copies sold. The album, which features the current single ‘So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore,’ is Jackson’s 13th album to bow at the top spot on Billboard’s Country Albums chart.
