A Very Personal Plea to Not Drink and Drive – Brian’s Blog

There are a few things in this world that you can count on me making a stand against. I will stand against the abuse of a woman or child. I will stand against bullying. I will stand against racism and prejudice and I will stand against drinking and driving. I have no tolerance for any of these things.

I know over the next few weeks that a lot of people will consume a lot of alcohol. I also know that a lot of people will drink and drive. We cannot have this. There is no excuse for having a few and getting behind the wheel. We have cabs, buses, sober friends and many other options to get you to where you need to go. If you are going to drink make sure you have someone to drive you. I have no problem with you having a few and enjoying the summer. I do have a problem with you driving if you have been impaired. You could injure yourself or worse yet, an innocent user of our roadways.

I would say a huge percentage of people have and do drive after having a few. This can be such a horrible decision. That one time you have a lapse in judgement could cost you or someone else their life. No family deserves to lose a loved one because someone was too stupid and selfish to get a driver to get them home. We all need you to be smart and think ahead if you plan on hanging one on.

We lost our 21 year old niece over the weekend due to a drunk driver. This is very personal to me and I don't want to see other families go through something that is totally avoidable. Don't drink and drive. Lives depend on making the right decision and it is very easy to make. Party smart this summer.
