Going on again tonight is a cool form of entertainment:  3D video mapping!

Where they take a surface and project 3 dimensional footage upon it.

I heard they were going to do a show at The Promenade Shops at Centerra this weekend, so last night I went to check it out.

Very neat. AND IT'S FREE!

I have two videos to get you geared up for tonight's showings!

Specialized software is used to warp and mask the projected image to make it fit perfectly on irregularly shaped screens. When done right, the end result is a dynamic projection installation that transcends ordinary video projection

That's how the website videomapping.tumblr.com describes what I saw last night- glad I found the site- because I tried to explain it to a friend and- failed.

I saw in The Reporter-Herald that the event was going to take place Friday night and Saturday night- so on my way home from Windsor to Loveland last night  I stopped to watch and get some video.

There are two five minute "shows"-- that alternate beginning at 6pm - with the last showings starting at 9:45.

The first show takes you around colorful Colorado-- very cool:

Crazy, right?

The other show is a weird journey from reality to the abstract:

It's definitely worth stopping out at The Promenade Shops and checking it out.. so grab your jacket, get the kids, and GO!
