A new $86 million hospital and medical center opened its doors Monday morning (April 6), at the corner of Harmony Road and Lady Moon Drive. According to the Coloradoan, the new Banner Heath Medical Center, houses three operating rooms, an emergency department, a 16-room health center and 22 beds with room to expand to 144. With the addition of the new facility from the Arizona-based Banner Health, it ends the 90-year run of Poudre Valley Hospital being the only game it town. However, the addition of a direct competitor is not the only affect that this new hospital will have on the Fort Collins community. The new medical center will also have a positive affect on the local economy, with the addition of over 190 new jobs, including doctors, nurses, technicians, cooks, maintenance and more.
