It is always such a treat to live in Northern Colorado. This weekend was no exception. We took in a lot of excitement and fun and we are just whetting our appetite for the summer. If this weekend is any indication, this is going to be a fantastic summer.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to have all of our grandchildren here with us this past weekend. We are anxiously awaiting the birth of our 4th grandchild this week, so we thought we would take our granddaughter Kirzi with us for a few days to give the awaiting parents a bit of a breather to prepare for the new addition. There is no feeling for a grandparent like having all your little ones playing and having fun together.

Saturday we all gathered to take part in Johnny's Community Run. I did my first 5K and the whole gang came to cheer me on. I ran the beginning and the end, in case anyone was watching, and walked the rest. This was still a huuuuge accomplishment for me. Last year I was well over 330lbs at this time and just walking from the car to the starting line would have wiped me out but this is a new year and new me. It felt great to finish it and to do it with daughter and Dr. Sandy from Benchmark Medical Group in Windsor made it even more special. The best part was approaching the end and finding all three of my grand kids standing there cheering me on to the finish line.

Sunday the gang hit the Poudre Trail and had a great time riding bikes and looking for turtles. The sounds of children playing together is one of the greatest sounds in the world. They had such a great time playing all over this beautiful area and it didn't cost a dime to do. Get your youngsters away from the TV and video games and get them out in the beautiful outdoors of Northern Colorado. We had a weekend full of memories and I cannot wait for the new addition to arrive this week and join us on our next outing. Life is good.
