9/11 Remembered in Song– 911 Times!

He started on Saturday.  He should be done by early morning on September 11th.  In recognition of the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

Find out where this gentleman is singing ‘God Bless The USA’ 911 times.

I saw this story today and thought since I’m filling in for Charley Barnes, that HE would probably be all over this, so I should post it for him!   In Washington City Utah, Alan Foote is singing. About 19 times an hour- Lee Greenwood’s ‘God Bless The USA’; by the time he’s done, he’ll have sung it 911 times.

“There have been things in my life that I haven’t followed through on … but this is really an important thing to follow through on, for me,” Foote said Thursday. “I would love for the community to stop whatever they’re doing at 6:40 on Tuesday and sing with me that 911th time.”

Foote said he is not doing the performance in an attempt to set a record. The idea grew out of news reports about a New York school program where “God Bless the USA” was removed from the ceremony’s song list because the principal feared it might offend some people.“All of a sudden, I just got angry and I committed to doing this,” he said.

Wow.  I think this is great.  I say let’s ALL stop what we’re doing on Tuesday 9/11- and sing.
