An 80-year-old Colorado Springs man has been honored as the Colorado winner of the Home Instead Senior Care network’s Salute to Senior Service award.  Kenneth Fairbanks is being recognized for his dedicated community service, including his work at Silver Key, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, and National Mill Dog Rescue.

Fairbanks has been a volunteer driver at Silver Key for 22 years, helping transport seniors to medical appointments, shopping and recreation. He has volunteered with VOC for ten years - participating in summertime project building and maintaining hiking trails in Colorado. He also spends one full day a week at the NMDR kennel, where his duties include laundry, cleaning and socializing the dogs.

As one of 50 state winners, Fairbanks earned $500 for his charity of choice – donated by Contest sponsor Home Instead, Inc. Fairbanks will also have a spot on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame.
