The Korean War ended on this date back in 1953. People always talk about the World Wars and the Vietnam War but many are uneducated about the Korean War. Today, and every day of our lives, is a good day to give extra thanks to those who serve and have served our country, especially those who fought in Korea.

My father in law Nick was one of those heroes who fought in the Korean War and one of the reasons I gained so much respect for him. He never talked about his time in the war until he was in last days on this earth. One day he finally dug out the shoe box of photos he kept hidden away and showed us the foxhole he lived in and the men he served with. He showed us the tree they decorated and celebrated Christmas around. I was honored to be let into a world he had kept to himself for so many decades.
