With the announcement that Sports Authority has decided to forego restructuring and go to liquidation, it's time to start thinking to "BUY LOCAL" in Northern Colorado.

If you know me well enough, you know that I am a big proponent of buying local. Whether it is supporting our local artisans, local farmers, or local shop owners, there is nothing better than buying products that make a difference in our very own community.

Hearing the closure of Sports Authority is huge news, and definitely has had an impact on myself. It was the first job I ever had as a kid, and was actually the best job I could have as my "first".

However, with this closure brings new opportunity in my mind.

It brings opportunity to explore the great local sporting good stores that we have throughout Northern Colorado.

Here are five that I think you need to check out when looking for whatever sporting needs you have. Bicycles, protective gear, camping equipment, etc. While some of these stores may just specialize in one of these items, you need to check them out.

It's time for all of us to think again about LOCAL. Just by doing a portion of your shopping with these great businesses throughout the year could make the world of difference.
