So before I start this blog I have to reiterate something. Ever since I moved to Colorado I have been trying to eat much healthier than what I used to. I am a BIG fan of eating "Farm to Table" food and supporting our local growers and farmers.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way...

I also have an "inner fat kid" inside of me that likes to escape every once in a while. Well, let's put the over/under at two times per week. Let's face it. Fort Collins has some of the best restaurants in America. Some are healthy, and a good portion of them are as popular as jumping into a pool full of gold coins. In this case, however, you're rolling around in cake.

We all have those moments where we want to indulge ourselves and try something we normally wouldn't on a daily basis. So here are my four Fort Collins restaurants/eateries that all inhibitions are pushed to the side and I enjoy the "fat side". If you haven't tried any of these yet, I recommend you do!

When I moved here, and first heard of the name Fat Shack, I was instantly drawn to what could be made in a location with such a "fat" name. It took me a while, but I stepped into the Fort Collins Fat Shack for the first time last week and was in awe over the entire menu.

I actually went all out and tried the "Fat Shack Sandwich". What is in this sandwich you may ask? How about cheesesteak, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, french fries, chicken fingers, onion rings, and your choice of sauce. Yes. You read that right. All of that in one sandwich.

Plus you can bring in any item you want to get it fried, and only pay one dollar. Understand why this would be number one on my list?

Here's another stop on the "Fat Kid Walking Trail" that I need to indulge in at least every other week.

(Don't let him fool you...he tries it every week...- Justin's Inner Fat Kid)

If you go into Walrus Ice Cream in Downtown Fort Collins, and they have it available, make sure you try the "Jack Chip" ice cream. It's an ice cream with chocolate chips and a Jack Daniels undertone to it. Or if you don't need a taste of J.D. on your Monday night, go for the Caramel Sea Salt. You won't be disappointed!

So let me clarify myself on this.

Does Fuzzy's serve junk food as you and I know it? Nope.

Can their food be very healthy? Of course it can.

But here is where my inner cake chaser gets into trouble. Their food (and drinks) are so good, that you can't stop eating it. Ever had their nachos with queso? Did you add on a couple tacos...burrito...and a drink or two onto your dinner plate?

Their food is so good, that you keep going...and going...and going...

Never been to the Fox and Crow on South Lemay before? Well if you are a cheese lover like myself, you need to stop in and try everything they have to offer.

Not only do they serve up some awesome cheese, but the meats you can select from are equally as good. I recommend getting the "Fatback". Fits this blog perfectly right? Well you won't be disappointed. As the clerk at the store recommended to me, you broil a piece of the fatback on a baguette until it melts in and then top it with feta cheese for that to lightly melt.

Wow. That's all I can say. And their bistro makes some top notch sandwiches. Perfect for when you need a quick bite to eat.

Those are my top four restaurants/eateries when I want to break away from the lettuce and tomatoes. Did I get your stomach grumbling yet? Tell me below where you like to go when you need to "break away from the norm"!
