There are certain songs that just stand the test of time. Those songs that generation after generation know by heart and love. Country music has had a wealth of those but on this particular date in history, there were a bunch of them. August 23rd could go down as one of the best days in the history of country music. Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and Eddie Rabbitt all had one their biggest songs hit the top of the of the charts on this date.

It was back in 1969 that Johnny Cash reached number one with his classic "A Boy Named Sue" which would go on to be one of his most beloved songs. Glen Campbell reached to top spot with the unforgettable "Rhinestone Cowboy" today in 1975 and Eddie Rabbitt sang about "Drivin' My Life Away" which sat on top of the mountain in 1980. That is one big day in our formats history. Thanks for three classics gentlemen.
