3 New Schools a Possibility Within Poudre School District

With the growth of the population within the Poudre School District continuously growing, school officials are now looking at ideas to keep up with the children moving in.

According to the Coloradoan, the staff of the school district will be presenting a plan which includes the possibility of building three new schools in the district as well as $375 million in bond funding.

That funding would be based on voter approval.

Also included in the plan are an athletics complex, a new transportation facility, and a permanent addition to Zach Elementary School.

Officials have already made plans on where the three new schools would be constructed, if they are approved. They would be located in:

• Southeast Fort Collins (Elementary)
• Wellington (Combined Middle/High)
• Prospect Rd and Larimer County Road 5/East of I-25 (Combined Middle/High)

An alternative growth plan will be put into place if the plan isn't approved by voters in November.

Presentations for the plan will be open to the public on the following dates and at the following locations (provided by the Coloradoan):

March 24: Wellington Middle School gym, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
March 28: Bethke Elementary School gym, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
March 30: Fossil Ridge High School roundhouse, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
April 4: Lesher Middle School auditorium, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
April 7: Fort Collins High School auditorium, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
April 11: Poudre High School roundhouse, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
