17,000 Homes Left Without Power in Greeley Area
17,000 homes were without power in and around Greeley for about 2 hours yesterday evening. According to the Greeley Tribune: Power was restored last night to Xcel Energy customers who were affected by the outage in Greeley, Garden City, Evans and LaSalle. North Colorado Medical Center was running on emergency power during the outage and several people were stuck in elevators, but workers were able to get them out safely. It’s not yet known what caused the power to go out, though it did not appear to be weather-related. The outage originated at a Greeley substation at 6:18 p.m.
